Helena,

I took the liberty of using your site and name while addressing a editorial in the Palm Beach Post. I have emailed you on it. I've been thinking long and hard about this. Tom has forgotten one thing in his disregard of medicine and psychiatry...the family. I am quite sure he has never first hand seen the effects of post pardem depression nor has he been there to pick up the pieces after the vitamins and exercise did not work. Unlike Helena, HE HAS NEVER BEEN PRIVY TO THE DISEASE, NOT GONE TO THE "FRONT LINES" TO SEE IT.

Most reading this don't know me, but I met Helena's web site during a weekend when I finally lost it. It was the worst weekend of my life. The heavy dark feeling that filled my chest and the dread of going through another day had finally taken it's toll. Helena literally held my hand over the internet and kept me from going any further into the depression until I was able to get to a Doctor. It's not a quick fix either, but the hope of knowing that there is medicine in your system that will start working over the next few weeks, and the understanding of my doctors, husband, family and Helena brought me through. I didn't realize how bad I was until I realized that I wouldn't even go to Walmart by myself. I lived in my neighborhood 2 years before I picked up a pizza on my own. Tom doesn't understand those feelings, and never will. He doesn't have a uterus.

We can only agree on one thing, Tom has brought up something that must be discussed publicly. It's not out there enough, between Brooke and Tom maybe some good will come through. Women will see themselves in Brooke, via her writing, or a husband will recognize his wife in her tears. As far as Tom goes, lets hope and pray that 70% of the public that disregarded his statements as ludicrist becomes 100% and we can move on positively. Helping those ladies that deserved the best of love and life from the child they brought into this world.

Love to you always Helena! Tabitha
