I had puerperal psychosis following birth of my daughter 5 years ago. I was admitted to a mother and baby unit were I stayed for 12 weeks on antipsychotics.The illness was a huge stain on my family and I, I went from running around like a lunatic to not being able to lift my head off the pillow,I was so weak. Im sure I would not have recovered so quickly without family support. Alex was born march 1999 and despite being so poorly I was back to work by november 1999. I have just discovered I am pregnant again, I am hopeful I will not be Ill this time and am currently searching for a recommended preventative treatment. Does anyone have any information as I will appreciate any comments.
