I'm writing on here seeking advice , although im not a mother myself. I hope you wont mind the intrusion! My broyfriends ex girlfriend has their daughter who is nearly 2 and a boy of 5 from a previous relationship. Since hearing about postpartem depression i can see that there are similarities in her behaviour to a postpartem sufferer. She ran away with both the children when the relationship came into difficulty, when i say ran away she moved them without telling anyone into a refuge for battered women although it seems it was she who was doing the battering(since having her first child she has been violet on numerous occasions). She has suffered from depression most of her life and has in the past confided that she would like to kill the children because they look like their farthers. She doesnt let either of the children see their paternal family. The boys farther gave up trying to see the boy many years ago and at the moment my boyfriend is trying to have weekend contact travelling to Lincolnshire every other Saturday to see the child from 10 -4 , she refuses to let the child come back to her home town for overnight contact. From what i know of her she leaves the children with many different people and works all the hours that god sends, since being in Lincoln she has had many different boyfriendsi think nearly 4 within a year and a half. Both myself and my boyfriend are concearned for the safety of the children.I am writing this not to be malicous but to see if there is anyway that she can get help without going to see a shrink?something which she refuses to do although she claimes she has suffered mental abuse from several of her boyfriends and her family thoughout the years. In the past five years she has lived virtually as a nomad so far the little girl has had 4 or 5 different homes and the little boy has had 10 or 11.I'm worried that this behaviour will carry on if she does nothing about it and that the children will grow up not very well adjusted. Please can you give me some advice women to woman. Your help would be much appreciated.
